Hope that helps. You should be able to find a You Tube video and/or a User Manual online that you can download.

When you get on the rally find someone with a Garmin to show you how to operate it to guide you round the course. Martin Green is better at this than me as I don’t use mine very often and usually forget what to do until I have practised a couple of times.

When you have the files in Garmin connect open each gpx file (called “courses” in Garmin terminology. You will find the list of courses hidden in the “More” menu (three dots) and then in “Training and Planning” then “Courses”. Open each in turn (each will show a small scale map) and click the Send to Garmin icon which is a small blue arrow pointinf at a watch. Then you need to connect your Garmin to the PC by bluetooth or cable. It will show connected in the home menu of the Connect app. Then you just need to activate the “Synch”. On my iPad it takes a while and looks like nothing is happening but eventually the “courses” will appear on the Garmin.

You need the “Garmin Connect” application on your laptop. Drag and drop each gpx file onto the Garmin Connect app. Or find some way of getting the files to the app. I am not sure with a PC because I use a Mac or iPad but you should find help on You Tube.

I have added many of the routes from the International Rallies to Rides, so if you fancy a fixed based centre in Europe and want a selection of good routes from the campsite, here they are. There are 11 sets at the moment and will increae as I find more sets. For an example see https://tandem-club.org.uk/rides?group=tci2022

Thanks to everyone for their input and insights. When I bought this bike, I have joined De Oude Fiets, bought Jos Rietveld's book (the section illustration above came from his book) and bookmarked every website and YouTube video I come across regarding Fongers and Dutch cycling. I joined this site s more ...

We had one a few years ago (S&S coupled in 3 places) and it was great for travelling by plane (2 bike bags) and performed faultlessly. However we decided to spend more time on long car trips to Europe and eventually ditched it for a conventional tandem that went on the roof. Think about how much tra more ...

If you are talking about S&S couplings then they are fairly easy to use. Uncoupling for transport is fairly easy. Re-coupling can be a little more tricky and will probably require two people to do it (one to operate the couplings the other to support one of the uncouple sections) You need to make su more ...

I am restoring a 1937 Fongers tandem with Sturmey-Archer drum brakes. I need to replace the rear brake cable itself but for the life of me I can't figure out how they assembled it to begin with. Maybe something is missing or has been changed over the years, i don't know for sure. Can anyone out ther more ...

Just a note of thanks to everybody who attended TCN2025 at Tanners Park Farm. It is quite a task to organise a rally, as many of you know, but it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves for a whole week. The site staff would really appreciate it if you could post a review on Trip advisor. Also more ...

I know life is busy (I've been locumming this week) but if you have time and pictures, can you add them to the revant ride on the website. It's reasonably easy, just drag and drop or choose file. A description is really helpful. I've done NE Medium and it looks great

I have added a gallery on the Tandem Club website where pictures can be added to which I have added mine already that tells the story of the week. If you do upload, naming them is grand as in the future they can be identified easily and if you can get the word Tandem in there somewhere that helps th more ...

Hi, someone took our washing out of the machine yesterday and we now can't find a couple of socks, if you have them could we have them back on pitch 64 please? We're getting especially low on toddler socks! Thanks Emma

That was a really pleasant coffee stop yesterday organised by Lucy. The Try a Tandem was less successful despite Lucy's great efforts in distributing many flyers. We will have to rethink that format. What a brilliant treasure hunt organised and supervised by Tim and Vicky and marshalled by Russel an more ...
